Acceptable: Lavender top (EDTA) or Royal Blue Top with Lavender Label

Preferred Volume to Collect: 3.0 mL

In alignment with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the reference range for blood leads has been updated from 5 mcg/dL to 3.5 mcg/dL.

 

Any elevated capillary blood specimens should be confirmed with a venous specimen because of possible contamination.
