Epic Code LAB314 Fibrinogen Level
Test Name Alias
Fibrinogen Blood Level | 8413
Interface Order Alias
10040
Clinical Information
Useful for the quantitative determination of fibrinogen in plasma.
Depressed levels of fibrinogen may be of acquired or congenital origin. An acquired fibrinogen deficiency may occur as result of intravascular proteolysis of fibrinogen by thrombin, snake venoms, or plasmin. Moderate hypofibrinogenemia my occur in the case of diminished production, increased loss, or degradation of fibrinogen. Fibrinogen is an acute phase protein and depending on the clinical state, may lead to temporary, transitory, or persistent hyperfibrinogenemia. Levels of fibrinogen increase slightly with age.
