Clinical Information
The ALPS Screen by Flow Cytometry is a sensitive screening test for Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome. Peripheral whole blood is stained with fluorescent labeled CD3, TCRαβ+, CD4, and CD8 monoclonal antibodies and the TCRαβ+ DNT cells in the blood are quantitated. Patients with ALPS, a rare disorder of dysregulated lymphocyte homeostasis, have an increased percentage of CD3+/TCRαβ+ cells which lack CD4 and CD8 (double negative T cells).
