Specimen Collection: Urine

 

Container(s): Sterile Container

Preferred Volume to Collect: 5.0 mL

Minimum Volume to Collect: 3.0 mL

Neonate Volume to Collect: 2.0 mL

 

Collection Instructions:

  • Random Urine
  • No preservative
  • Ambient specimen must be received in the Lab within 2 hours
  • If delay, keep the specimen refrigerated and send to the Lab as soon as possible.
  • Specimen must be received in Lab for analysis within 24 hours of collection.
  • Microbiology must have clean catch specimen collection for urine culture
