Collection Instructions

Specimen: Meconium

 

Container(s): Sterile Screw-Capped Container

Preferred Volume to Collect: 5 g (about the size of a marble)

Minimum Volume to Collect: 1 g (approx. 1 teaspoon) 

 

Collection Instructions:

  • The specimen should be collected into (or transferred from a diaper- diapers not accepted) a clean dry plastic container (no swabs).
  • Transport specimen to the lab immediately.
