Specimen Requirements

Submit only one of the following specimen types:

Specimen Type: Stool
Container/Tube: Hemoccult slide (card)

Collection Instructions:

  • Please use instruction guide included in kit (see also patient handout).
  • Insert Test Card into Mailing Pouch included in kit.
  • Do not mail to Beckman Coulter, Inc.
  • Mail sealed pouch to Laboratory within 10 days of Day 1 Collection Date or bring to any Outpatient Laboratory as soon as possible.
  • Do not place sampled slide in any moisture proof material such as plastic bags.
  • Do not refrigerate.
  • Patient should label cards with Name and Collection Date.

 

Acceptable:

Specimen Type: Stool
Container/Tube: Empty Vial of the stool specimen collection kit or sterile container
Volume: Fill to the line on the container
Minimum volume: 5 mL
Collection Instructions:

  • No additive.
  • Use a dry, clean container.
  • Do not use specimens from toilet water. 
  • Do not send on tissue or toilet paper
  • Refrigerate until ready for transport to the lab.
  • Secure cap to avoid leaks. Leaky specimens may be canceled for recollection.
