Container(s): Plastic 24-hour urine jug

Preferred Volume to Collect: 24 hour collection

 

Collection Instructions:

  • Addition of 50% acetic acid prior to start of collection is preferred but not required. Refrigeration during and after urine collection is an acceptable means of urine preservation. If adding preservative:
    • Add 25 mL 50% acetic acid at start of collection
    • Children under 5 years, add 15 mL 50% acetic acid
  • 24 hour urine collection.
  • Refrigerate during collection and transport
  • Keep container upright at all times and check that lid is fastened evenly and securely.
