Epic Code LAB8870 Hepatitis C Virus RNA Quantitation by RT-PCR
Test Name Alias
Hepatitis C VirusRNA Quantitative | 4185
Interface Order Alias
10170
Ordering Instructions
If one or more of the following tests are to be ordered, only one EDTA plasma tube or one serum tube (minimum volume 2 mL) needs to be provided:
- Hepatitis C Virus RNA Quantitation by RT-PCR
- Hepatitis C Genotype with Amplification
In addition, positive HCV specimens will be stored by the laboratory for 1 month, so additional follow-up testing can be added to the original order by FAXing the completed “Additional/Add-on Laboratory Request” form to Spectrum Health Lab Central at 616-267-2751.
Collection Instructions
Specimen Collection: Blood
Container(s): 6 mL Pink Top (EDTA) OR 5 mL Gold top (Serum Separator-SST Gel)
Preferred Volume to Collect: Full tube (6 mL or 5 mL)
Collection Instructions:
- Gently invert EDTA tube(s) 8 - 10 times after collection.
- Specimen should be processed within 4 hours – See Processing Instructions.
Processing Instructions (Laboratory, Outpatient or Off-site collection)
