Specimen collection: Whole blood

Container(s): Green top (Lithium Heparin) non-gel or unspun mint green top (lithium heparin gel) or a heparinized blood gas syringe or a heparinized capillary tube.

Volume: 4 mL

Minimum volume: 1 mL whole blood

Collection Instructions:

  • Do not spin, separate or expose to air.
  • Keep tube capped.
  • Arterial, venous, and capillary blood specimens are acceptable.
  • Capillary specimens should be limited to pediatric patients and can not be couriered.
